The Ebonyi State Government has announced October 5, 2020, as the resumption date for primary and secondary schools in the State, following recommendations by the State Ministry of Education.
Pre-primary school classes in public and private schools however are to remain closed until further notice.
The Commissioner for Education, Onyebuchi Chima, made the disclosure, while briefing journalists on the outcome of the Thursday State Executive Council meeting, held in Abakaliki.
The Education Commissioner said as part of measures to contain the spread of Covid 19, the state adopted a phased approach to reopen primary and secondary classes.
Chima notes that primary and secondary Schools were given three weeks from the approved resumption date to round off the 2019/2020 academic session to enable the 2020/2021 academic year begin.
