Scores of people have been reported killed when a petrol tanker lost control due to brake failure and crashed on the Mabolo River in Ankpa Local Government in Kogi State.
An eyewitness, simply known as MC Ajebere told ait.live that the incident which happened on Wednesday afternoon left residents scampering for help as there were no men of the fire service on ground to put out the fire.
Kogi State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Stephen Dawulung said an interim report from his men on the scene say eight people died.

However, local sources within Ankpa put the casualty figure at twenty one, with several of them burnt beyond recognition.
FRSC Personnel were seen carrying out rescue operations and preventing traffic congestion with the help of members of the community
