Security Services operating in Nigeria’s North East have been urged to be mindful of the rule of law, human rights and the rules of engagement.
Borno State Governor, who is also the Chairman of the North East Governors’ Forum, Babagana Zulum, said this in Maiduguri as a Special Guest, at a 3-day 12th Zonal Conference for State Directors of Security, in Nigeria’s North East Zone.
Governor Zulum, represented by the Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, Professor Usman Tar, requested for this inter-agency collaboration.
The Chairman of the occasion, who is also the Chairman of the North East State Directors of Security, Husseini Abdullahi, said the quarterly conference was introduced by the State Security Service (SSS) to bring together, Directors within the zone, to deliberate on general and specific security situation, of their respective states.

“The meetings aim at appraising strategies towards strengthening intelligence acquisition efforts by the Service and ensuring the harmonisation and utilisation of assets.”
At the end of the Conference, it is expected that appropriate resolutions would have been proffered, to aid and guide the course of action to the Service Commands, and other relevant stakeholders, with a view to tackling the myriad of security challenges, confronting the North East region, and Nigeria in general.
