The Nigerian Senate on Thursday criticised the Federal Government for not doing enough to ensure that the dreaded COVID-19 disease was prevented from getting into the country.
The position of the upper legislative chamber followed point of order by Deputy Leader, Robert Ajayi Boroffice drawing attention to the very “loose arrangements” he noticed at the Nigerian airport upon his return from South Africa, calling on relevant authorities to do more especially in the area of screening of visitors coming into the country.

Speaking, the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan noted that while other countries with better medical facilities are doing everything to prevent the disease; Nigeria was in his words “busy doing nothing”.
Responding to the threat of COVID-19; the FG has released a total of N600m to prevent the disease from reaching Nigeria.
COVID-19 which broke out in Wahun in Southeast China has killed over 2,801 people; with cases reported in parts of Europe, the United States of America, Africa and Latin America.
