The Senate has cautioned the Nigeria Police and the Police Service Commission,PSC to put an end to the conflict between the two agencies of government especially as it relates to the issue of recruitment into the Force.
This is as the upper chamber asked them to always put the interest of the country ahead of their personal gain.
President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio stated this after consideration and approval of the report of the Committee on Police Affairs for the confirmation of the Presidential nominees as Chairman, Secretary and member of the Commission.
Those confirmed are retired Deputy Inspector-General, Hamisu Argungu as Chairman, Onyemuchi Nnamani as Secretary and Frederick Lakanu as member.
Akpabio says clash of both offices will retard the progress of security in the country that would have added 20,000 police officers into the Force.
He implored the two agencies to work harmoniously towards the realisation of the vision of President Bola Tinubu of adequate security for all Nigerians.
He mandated the Senate Committee on Police Affairs to ensure proper oversight to avoid mistakes of yesterday particularly on recruitment exercise.
