The Association of Senior citizens fisheries in the south-south has staged a protest at the National Human Rights Commission, NHRC, against the non-implementation of an agreement reached with some oil companies in the region to compensate them for over 22 years of oil spillage damages.
Speaking to ait.live in Abuja, they said the destruction occasioned by the companies’ facilities has destroyed their fishing business leading to life-threatening health issues for some members as over 12 have died.
