In a bid to revamp the mining sector in Sokoto State, the state government is seeking a review of mining agreements with companies operating in the state.

The commissioner for Solid Minerals Development, Yusuf Muhammad Maccido, stated this during a tour of key mining companies in the state.

At the BUA Cement Company, Maccido emphasized the importance of collaboration between the ministry and the private sector.

He also encouraged the company to continue its support for host communities.

The Plant Director of the BUA group, Aminu Bashar, highlighted the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility citing various community development projects and initiatives undertaken by BUA Company in the host community.

The commissioner also visited a phosphate mining site in Wamakko Local Government Area to explore opportunities to revitalise the mining sector and contribute to the economic growth of the state.
