The Nigerian House of representatives is considering a bill to establish Bakassi Development Commission, in an effort to permanently solve the challenges of the Displaced People of Bakassi.
Chairman, house of representatives Commiittee on Niger Delta Affairs,Essein Ayi made this known in Calabar while speaking with Newsmen on the current state of Bakassi.
Ayi who is the fifth term member of the federal house representing Bakassi,Calabar South and Akpabuyo Federal Constituency said the bill has passed the first reading in the lower chamber, hoping that it will be passed by both chambers of the National Assembly.
He assured that the multi complex problems facing the displaced people of Bakassi ,including,its political,social and economic challenges will be addressed by the Commission if signed by the President.
The Problem of Bakassi commenced following the ceding of its territory to the republic of Cameroon by the federal Government without the consent of the people and Government of Cross River State.
