The Governors of the southeast geopolitical zone have sent a congratulatory message to Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala on her recent emergence as the first African and first female Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).
The five state governors in a statement endorsed by them said, it is heart-warming that their daughter, Dr. Iweala, emerged meritoriously in the world contest as DG, WTO, at a time the globe needs extra-ordinary leadership to inject best principles that will enhance trade liberalizations and global economic management, in the comity of international economic institutions.
The governors also commended President Muhammadu Buhari, for the support, solidarity, and political will that, “launched a Nigerian to the apex seal of the World Trade Organization”.

They are committing the new Director-General of the WTO to the grace of God, that she will discharge her duties meritoriously.
