The Zaria Road Stadium buzzed with excitement as the host team lived up the expectations of fans.
Plateau United wasted little time making their mark with the lead in just the second minute.
The most team continued to press for another goal, and their persistence paid off in first-half stoppage time when Dayo Ojo found the back of the net to make it a two-goal cushion at the break.
The second half saw both sides create scoring opportunities, but Plateau United proved more clinical in front of goal.
Just when Kano Pillars appeared to be holding on, the hosts struck twice in quick succession, with Nentot Silas converting from the penalty spot to seal an emphatic four-nil victory and bring the visitors’ unbeaten run to an end.
Reacting to the result, Plateau United coach Gbenga Ogunbote said he would not be carried away by the victory, stressing that the team still had several matches to play.
But the Kano Pillars coach, Daniel Ogunmodede declined to address the post-match Press conference.
The comprehensive victory takes Plateau United to 14 points and third place on the league table, boosting their campaign as the season progresses.
