Twelve All Progressives Congress, (APC, Local Government Chairmen in Imo West Senatorial District, alongside other party stakeholders, have rejected the Federal High Court judgment delivered on October 29, 2026, concerning the party’s senatorial candidacy in the district.
The stakeholders say the judgment does not reflect the outcome of the party’s primary election, in which they insist Governor Hope Uzodimma emerged as their preferred candidate.
Addressing journalists on behalf of the party stakeholders, in Owerri, the Imo State capital the Imo State APC Chairman, Austin Onyedebelu, said party members in the senatorial district overwhelmingly voted for Governor Hope Uzodimma during the party’s primaries.
The stakeholders described the court’s decision, which they say recognises former Governor Rochas Okorocha as the APC senatorial flag bearer, as a miscarriage of justice.

They expressed concern that the judgment could deepen divisions within the party and create uncertainty among members ahead of the forthcoming polls.
The party leaders also maintained that the outcome of the primary election should be respected, insisting that the wishes of party members must not be disregarded.
As reactions continue to trail the court judgment, attention will now be on the next steps by the affected party stakeholders and the legal and political processes surrounding the disputed candidacy.
