Stakeholders in Taraba State say food security in the country can only be secured if the country if the government can make a deliberate attempt to address the insecurity challenges facing the country.

This was the outcome of a meeting tagged food system dialogue in Taraba State, aimed at boosting the confidence of Nigerian farmers.

As Nigeria’s food security continues to come under threat by attacks on farmers by bandits, and the crisis between farmers and herders, the rural food system dialogue will further ensure food security in the state.

The planting season has begun but many farmers are afraid of returning to the farms, out of fear for their safety.

With this situation at hand, Nigeria could be facing an impending food crisis, in the face of a rapidly growing population.

Farmers and herders also presented their opinions on how the security challenge can be addressed by the government so that the country can attain the Sustainable Development Goal of Zero Hunger.

The consumption safety of food items and nutritional value were also some of the key issues, that took the centre stage, in the course of the dialogue.

The food system dialogue is one of the criteria in preparing the United Nations member countries to meet the Sustainable Development Goal of zero hunger by 2030.
