Nigerian women have again been reminded that their self-worth is more important than any gift item they will get from politicians soliciting their votes in the 2023 general elections.
This was echoed by some resource persons at a women’s conference in Kaduna State. Northwest Nigeria
Compared with men, women tend to experience greater disadvantage in nearly all societies. They are also more likely to live in poverty or work in low-paying occupations thereby making them vulnerable.
These gender inequalities which affect women differently and unevenly, necessitated the Kaduna conference to highlight the significance of women in the society.
Resource persons at the conference observed the structural imbalance in the society which places women at a disadvantage but advised them to be resourceful in all endeavors of life.
They also urged women to look beyond gift items from politicians canvassing for votes in the 2023 elections
The Conference with the theme “I am important’ also emphasized the need for women to be determined and self-reliant.
