A State funeral ceremony has been held in honour of the late former Governor of Anambra State, Pius Chukwuemeka Ezeife in Awka, the State capital, Southeast Nigeria.
The commendation service held at the International Convention Centre, brought together people from all walks of life who came to pay their last respect to a Man described as a “true nationalist”.
The body of late Pius Chukwuemeka Ezeife, popularly known as “Okwadike”, a traditional title by his Ancient Igbo Ukwu kingdom, arrived the International convention center, Awka, the Anambra State capital for a commendation service.
The event saw dignities pay tributes to the departed ex-Governor of Anambra State, taking turns to extol the exemplary leadership style of Ezeife, describing him as a man who lived and fought for a peaceful and equitable society.

For the host Governor, Chukwuma Soludo, and others, said the late Ezeife was a statesman, who both present and future leaders should emulate by speaking up always and standing by the truth at all times.
The President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu used the occasion to bestore a post humous honour on the late Chukwuemeka Ezeife as the hero of Ndigbo, noting that it was a way of encouraging present and future leaders that there is reward for good leadership.
Ezeife was born eighty three years ago and was the Governor of Anambra state during the botched third Republic from January 1992 to November 1993
Final activities leading to his interment will continue in his hometown, Igbo Ukwu in Aguata Local Government Area.
