Thirteen health associations, affiliated to the National Union of Allied Health Professionals, NUAHP, at the University College Hospital, UCH Ibadan in Oyo State, South-West Nigeria has suspended their indefinite strike for two weeks and directed members to resume work immediately on Tuesday, September 22.
The strike was called following the failure of the UCH Management to implement the recommendation of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, on the immediate reinstatement of suspended Director of Pharmaceutical Services at the hospital.
In a letter to the Chief Medical Director, CMD, signed by the NUAHP UCH Chairman, Oladayo Olabarmpe
and Secretary, Onafowora Olumuyiwa, the unions stated that the suspension of the strike followed the intervention of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and demanded for Immediate and Unconditional Implementation of the ministry’s decision that the embattled Director of Pharmaceutical services, Dr. Adevinka Ishola, be reinstated.
NUAHP is an affiliate union of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC.
