Environment Experts have emphasized the need for strict adherence to building codes and regulations in Nigeria to ensure structural integrity.
The experts who spoke at a seminar on regulatory compliance and building control standards hosted by the college of Environmental Sciences, the Bells University Ota, Ogun State said this will go a long way to prevent structure collapse in Nigeria.
Building regulation is a collection of pre- scriptive specifications that give directive on how buildings should be constructed.
However, some developers have either ignored or circumvented these regulations leading to structural defect, building collapse and attendant loss of lives and property.

The General manager, Lagos State Building Control Agency , Gbolahan Oki told the gathering that adherence to regulations governing the construction industry is a must if lives and properties are to be preserved.
Other speakers encouraged students to ensure they apply their knowledge in the world of architecture and construction to make positive impact .
Participants drawn from various disciplines in the Institution, described the programme as informative and educative.
