Kano State Police Commissioner, Hussaini Gumel has visited Gaya Emirate as part of efforts to restore peace following violent clashes between rival supporters of the All Progressives Congress, APC and the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP in Kademi village which left many people injured.
There have been tensions between the rival political groups in the lead up to the Supreme Court judgement which upheld the election victory of Governor Abba Yusuf of the NNPP and upturned earlier court decisions in favour of the APC candidate.
A seven-member reconciliation committee has also been set up to investigate the incident and is expected to submit its report within one week.
