Reports say, suspected Boko Haram fighters loyal to the Jama’at Ahl as-Sunnah lid-Da’wah wa’l-Jihād, have massacred over 50 farmers, in its latest bloodshed against civilians in the restive North-East Region.
The report said, the search for bodies has continued after the gunmen on motorbikes attacked the people while on their farms in Rann, the Headquarters of Kala-Balge Local Government Area in Northern Borno.
Rann is about 172 km from Maiduguri the Borno State capital.
Some sources say, dozens of the fighters attacked the peasant farmers who were working on their farms with machetes.
They said that large numbers of the terrorists armed with guns and machetes encircled the farmers before executing them one after the other.
The sources said that the victims were buried on Monday, with residents saying many others were yet to be accounted for.
Authorities could not be reached immediately to confirm this latest attack.
