The Nasarawa State Police Command has arrested eight suspected kidnappers following an attack on Rukubi Community in Doma local government area of the state.
Commissioner of Police Shetima Jauro Mohammed in a statement said the gunmen invaded the community on May 7, 2026, shooting sporadically and abducting two residents, identified as Ayele Jonathan and Rose Samuel.
He said police operatives, working with the Nigerian Military, the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, the National Forest Security Service, and local youths, launched a joint operation that led to the arrest of the suspects.
According to the police, two AK-47 rifles, four Bajaj motorcycles, and expended ammunition shells were recovered during the operation.
The commissioner added that one of the suspects died after sustaining injuries during the encounter, while security has been strengthened in the affected community to prevent further attacks.
