The Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Abel Diah, has resigned, citing personal grounds.
Diah’s resignation follows impeachment rumours which were rife in the state last week.
According to the rumours, some members of the State House of Assembly backed by the State Governor, Darius Ishaku, were planning to remove the speaker who has led the legislature since 2015.
The State Governor had refuted the allegation in a press statement.
