Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas has flagged off the construction of Livestock Service Centre in the State.
The project is in partnership between the State Government and the World Bank Assisted Livestock Productivity And Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) to promote modern Livestock farming in the State.
The Flag off of the construction of a Livestock Service Centre held in Sunkani, Ardo-Kola Local Government Council, one of the areas renowned for large-scale livestock farming in Taraba State.
The construction is at the instance of the partnership between the Taraba State Government and the World Bank Assisted Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES).
The Centre is expected to set the pace in the transition of livestock farming in the State from traditional to modern practices.
The flag-off for the Livestock Service Centre construction was performed by Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, represented by the State’s Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Nicholas Nemassen.
The Commissioner explained that the centre, when completed, will provide improved veterinary care, disease control, genetic improvement, agribusiness support, and training opportunities for farmers and pastoralists.
Taraba State Coordinator of the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES), Hananiah Albert, said the Livestock Service Centre will be a “one-stop platform” designed to commercialise and modernise livestock production.
The national Coordinator of the Project, Sanusi Abubakar, described the event as a milestone in the State’s livestock development drive.
Taraba is one of five states selected nationwide for the establishment of Livestock Service Centres under the L-PRES project, in line with Nigeria’s livestock development policy objectives.
