Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas says the State must diversify it’s revenue generation, to reduce dependence on Federal Government allocation.
The Governor was speaking while receiving a five year strategic revenue generation plan from the State’s Board Of Internal Revenue.
According to the Taraba State Board of Internal Revenue Service, the State’s monthly Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), has increased from 600milliin to 1.1 billion naira.
This over 400 million naira increase is achieved through the blockage of leakages, reforms, and the effective implementation of the treasury Single Account system by the Board.
The Chairman of the Board of Internal Revenue Service, Brigadier General Jeremiah Faransa (rtd) hopes to build on the gains in the State’s IGR, through a strategic five year revenue generation plan, which he presented to the Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas.
Governor Agbu Kefas commended the Board for it’s diligence in duty, adding that an improved IGR is key in sustaining the gains in security, and meeting the increasing responsibilities of governance.

Governor Kefas also reiterated the need for Taraba State to lessen it’s dependence on federal allocations, by expanding it’s IGR through effective and efficient revenue administration.
The Governor also highlighted the need for transparency and accountability in public offices.
The Taraba State Board of Internal Revenue Service’ Strategic five year plan captures initiative aimed at expanding the State’s revenue base, improving tax administration, and ensuring sustainable economic growth.
