Tension mounts in Langtang community over closed LG secretariat

Women and youths in their numbers on Wednesday besieged the Langtang North Police Divisional office and the palace of their traditional ruler to register their anger over what they called disobedience to Court order by the State Government.

The protesters who were seen carrying placards with different inscriptions said they have been disenfranchised by the contentious closed down of the Local Government Council Secretariat.

The Langtang North Council Secretariat still under lock and key by security personnel following a leadership crisis after the 2nd November 2021, Plateau High Court judgement which reinstated Joshua Laven as the Council chairman but has still been denied access to the office, a situation that prompted this protest.

Women from all over Langtang North Council came out in their numbers to also register their displeasure with the development which they say is capable of throwing the council area into crisis.

Meanwhile, the acting Ponzhi Taroh who reminding the protesters of the neutrality of the traditional institution and the Divisional Police Officer of the Council area all commended the protesters for not taken the laws in to their hands.

The situation no doubt leaves much to be desired as the tension in Lantang North is already generating concerns as locals hope the situation would not degenerate further.
