The Department of State Services, DSS, has again filed terrorism charges against two detained aides of Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Adeyemo also known as Sunday Igboho.

The charges were filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja almost three months since the arrest and detention of the two aides who have been denied bail despite a court order.

In the suit, DSS counsel, Samuel Bello filed a five-count of terrorism charges against Noah Oyetunji and Amudat Babatunde. They were alleged to have been in possession of firearms for terrorism-related activities and promoting terrorist acts through Facebook account.

Meanwhile, Counsel for the detainees, Pelumi Olajengbesi, said, the charges are baseless and worthless

No date has been fixed for a hearing.

Previously, the DSS had freed ten out of the twelve aides of Igboho after over 60 days in detention since their arrest on July 1st during a midnight invasion of Igboho’s Soka house in Ibadan, Oyo State.

The detainees had approached the court to seek their fundamental right and Justice Obiora Egwuatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja on August 4, 2021, granted them bail.

But the bail granted to four out of the twelve detainees was opposed by counsel for the DSS, Idowu Awo, on the ground that they were heavily involved in the alleged offence of arms stockpiling and other criminal activities of their boss, Igboho.

Eventually, eight of the detainees were released, and later two last Friday while the remaining two were charged this Wednesday.
