Terrorists fine Katsina community 10 Million Naira for killing member

Terrorists operating in the forest areas of Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State have placed a 10 million naira fine on Gobirawa village for the killing of one of their members by a farmer in the village.

Spokesman of the police, Superintendent Gambo Isah who confirmed the incident in a statement also said, a the ward head, (mai’ungwa) of the area, 50 year old Surajo Madawaki has been arrested for conspiracy over the development.

Isah explained that trouble started when on October 19 at about 9:00 am, a distress call was received that a 35 year old Yahaya Danbai of Gobirawa village in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina state, was attacked by a suspected terrorist with AK 47 rifle while working on his farmland at the outskirt of the village.

According to the police spokesman, the farmer summoned courage and overpowered his assailant, disarmed him and killed the terrorist then, took the recovered AK 47 rifle to the house of his Ward Head, (Maiunguwa), 50 year old Surajo Madawaki.

Subsequently, the Ward Head, instead of reporting the matter to the Police, rather called a suspected notorious terrorist commander and handed over the recovered AK 47 rifle to him. Consequently, the terrorists’ gang leader Hamisu, mobilized his gang, surrounded the village, brought out the gallant farmer and killed him instantly thereafter, placing a 10 million naira ransom on the community for killing one of their members.

The katsina police image maker further added that since then, the said Ward Head, Surajo Madawaki went into hiding, until he was eventually arrested by a team of policemen and have since confessed to the offence. The ward head however denied all the allegations against.
