Zamfara State

One person has been shot dead, and about 40 other worshippers abducted by terrorists who invaded Samaru, in Gusau, Zamfara State capital.

The incident was said to have occurred around 1am on Tuesday, when the terrorists stormed behind the NTA area.

Residents told AIT.live that the terrorists, who had sophisticated weapons, entered Samaru and started shooting sporadically, killing one person and whisking away about 40 worshippers, including widow of the deceased to an unknown destination.

State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, ASP Yazid Abubakar, has confirmed the incident. He however, denied that the incident happened in Gusau metropolis, but on the outskirts, at a place called Bulunkun, where one Ashiru Nagogo was killed when he resisted attempt by terrorists to abduct him. They also went ahead to kidnap his wife and neighbour.

The PPRO also debunked the claim that there was an abduction of worshippers in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital.

He said the police have since deployed their rescue team to comb the area and to ensure the safe rescue of the two abducted victims.
