Motorists and commuters plying the Lagos Third Mainland Bridge will soon heave a sigh of relief, as the last phase of repair works on the bridge has commenced.
Just as earlier announced, the new diversion points from the Adekunle ramp extended four kilometres towards the Oworonsoki axis was shut to traffic at exactly 12 midnight Friday.
Ait.live gathered that under the new arrangement, traffic on the Lagos Island outbound lane from 12 am to 12 pm will be diverted to the Lagos inbound lane at the new diversion point, 4 kilometres from Adekunle while traffic on the Lagos Mainland bound lane will use alternative routes.
From the hour of 12 pm to 12 am, Lagos Mainland bound traffic will access the Third Mainland Bridge while motorists going to the Island will take alternative routes, as the Adekunle Ramp has been completely shut to traffic.
The new diversion points are to allow contractors handling the repair works to replace the worn-out expansion joints along the Adekunle ramp and the exercise will take four weeks starting from January 15 till February 13.
