Plateau State Police Command, in collaboration with other security agencies, has repelled an early morning attack on Pwomol village in Heipang District of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area.

According to a statement by the Command, the incident occurred at about 4:30am on April 6, 2026, following a distress call reporting gunshots in the area.

A joint response team comprising police, military, and other security operatives was immediately deployed and engaged the attackers in a gun duel, forcing them to flee into nearby mountainous forests.

The State Commissioner of Police, Bassey Ewah, visited the scene for an on-the-spot assessment, where he commiserated with families of the victims and assured them of a thorough investigation to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

The Inspector General of Police has also reinforced security in the area with additional deployments and intensified patrols.

The Command has urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and report any suspicious activities, while also calling for strict compliance with the ongoing curfew as enforcement has been intensified.
