President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has transmitted a bill to the House of Representatives seeking the repeal and re-enactment of the Nigerian Police Trust Fund (NPTF) Act.
The President says the proposal is aimed at strengthening fund management, improving police training, and equipping the Nigeria Police Force with modern tools.
He adds that the reform will enhance operational efficiency, accountability, and sustainability in line with current security demands.
President Tinubu is urging lawmakers to grant the bill accelerated consideration, stressing the need to boost welfare, training, and capacity development within the police.
