President Bola Tinubu on Thursday directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to summon the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri and Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), Mele Kyari to update the presidency on the State of the nation in relation to the current fuel scarcity and price increase.
Also summoned on Thursday at the Presidential Villa is the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
Briefing State House Correspondents after the meeting with the Vice president, Minister of State for petroleum, Heineken Lokpobiri said petroleum products are available in the country, assuring Nigerians that by the weekend there will be enough petrol across the country.
Lokpobiri urged Nigerians to shun panic buying, noting that prices will stabilise once the product becomes readily available in all retail outlets.
Also speaking, Executive Director at Nigeria Mainstream, Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, Mugo Kalu Okuoha says efforts are now geared towards stabilising supply which according to him will in turn bring down prices.
Also on Thursday, Vice President Kashim Shettima inaugurated the new Board of the Niger Delta power holding company.
