President Bola Tinubu has sworn in Abel Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
Enitan was inaugurated on Thursday by the President during a brief ceremony at the State House, Abuja, taking over from Didi Esther Walson-Jack, who retires from the Federal Civil Service after attaining the statutory retirement age of 60.
The new Head of Service, from Osun State, is the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service, having served as a Permanent Secretary for seven years and seven months.
His career has taken him through the Ministry of Police Affairs, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, the Office of the Vice President and the Federal Ministry of Education.
Enitan, who was born on December 12, 1966, pledged to build on the reforms already established in the civil service, saying he would “not reinvent the wheel, but lubricate it.”
The outgoing Head of Service, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, in her remarks, reflected on her tenure and expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve the country.
She urged the new Head of Service to sustain ongoing reforms and continue the drive towards a more efficient and effective civil service.
