Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have arrested a suspected terrorist collaborator and recovered more than five-point-three million naira allegedly linked to terrorist logistics operations in Zamfara State.
The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Lawali Dan Alo, was intercepted by troops during an operation in the state.
According to a statement by the Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the suspect’s bag, which he claimed contained food items, was searched.
The search reportedly uncovered ₦5.302 million in cash and a mobile phone.
Preliminary interrogation, the statement said, revealed that the suspect was allegedly delivering the money on behalf of a terrorist leader to another individual identified as Kasimu Garba.
The development came as troops continued operations to disrupt terrorist activities and logistics networks across Zamfara.
In another operation, troops working with a police IED team responded to a report of a suspected explosive device near Jabanda Village in Zurmi Local Government Area.
The device was successfully located and detonated, allowing the road to be declared safe and reopened.
The troops also engaged terrorists around Birnin Magaji and Shinkafi Local Government Areas, forcing them to withdraw in disarray.
Motorcycles, a camouflage jungle hat, a handheld radio and other items were recovered.
The military has urged the public to remain vigilant and provide credible information that could assist security agencies in their operations.
