Troops clear ISWAP terrorists, others from forests in Kwara State

KWARA STATE

The Nigerian Army has cleared Islamic State of West African Province, ISWAP terrorists as well as bandits and kidnappers from the areas previously occupied in Nanu, Babanla and Gbugbu forests in Kaima and Edu local government areas of Kwara State.

Commander, 22 Armoured Brigade, Sobi Cantonment, Ilorin, Major-General Oluwafemi Williams made this known during the 2024 Nigerian Army Social Activities, NASA says the operations have successfully curtailed various security threats within and around the North-Central state.

NASA is organised to mark the end of the year activities and the beginning of another year in various Army formations across the country, allowing families of officers and soldiers to jointly unwind.

While giving his score card, Major-General Williams said the activities of ISWAP and other security threats have been greatly curtailed which he attributed to the soldiers hard work and dedication.

Officers who distinguished themselves in their duties were also recognised publicly.

Various ethnic groups within the Brigade also had the opportunity to display their culture.

The Brigade Commander promised to sustain the successes recorded in 2024 in the year 2025.
