Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA (JTF NW OPFY), have neutralised two suspected Lakurawa terrorists and recovered a significant cache of arms and ammunition during a coordinated offensive operation in the Sabarumawa axis of Kebbi State.

The operation, conducted on 27 June 2026, was said to have been based on credible intelligence indicating that the terrorists were planning an attack on the Sabarumawa community.

In a statement issued by the Joint Task Force’s Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, troops of the Chief of Army Staff Intervention Battalion 7 swiftly mobilised to the area and established a tactical ambush along the terrorists’ suspected route to prevent the planned attack.

According to the statement, the terrorists were engaged with overwhelming firepower as they approached the ambush position, leading to a fierce gun battle.

The troops’ superior combat effectiveness forced the terrorists into disarray, with two of them neutralised, while the remaining members of the group fled into the surrounding forest.

Operation FANSAN YAMMA said a follow-up exploitation of the area led to the recovery of a cache of arms and other operational items, including AK-47 rifles, AK-47 magazines, 143 rounds of ammunition, and one motorcycle.
