Troops kill 9 bandits, arrest 15 others in Zamfara

Troops of Operation Accord have killed two bandits during an operation at Galadi village, in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State while on covert operations.

A statement by the Coordinator, Defence Media Operations, Major General John Enenche, said the troops killed several bandits and rescued 3 kidnapped victims during clearance operations in Sabon Tunga and Tamuske villages.

This was as the troops with support from the Nigerian Air Force helicopter gunships bombarded bandits’ enclaves at Dutsen Emai in Zamfara State.

In another development, the troops on routine patrol at Gobirawa village encountered some bandits; killing six of them and recovered 4 AK 47 rifles, 3 Dane guns and 2 motorcycles from them.

Following credible intelligence on activities of illegal miners at Kadauri General Area in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State, troops apprehended 11 suspected illegal miners. The suspects have been handed over to the appropriate prosecuting authority for further action.

Additionally, troops of Forward Operating Base Kwatarkwashi arrested one Shafiu Suleman, a wanted bandit informant at Kwatarkwashi Market.

Two other bandits were arrested and one was also killed in Gidan Ruwa along Rukudawa axis of Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Arms and ammunition were also recovered from the gang.

On Sunday, the troops arrested a suspected kidnap kingpin in Kurfi Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The suspect who has been on the wanted list is presently in custody for further action..
