Troops of the Nigerian Army have neutralised two suspected kidnappers during a follow-up clearance operation in Edimogbo Forest, Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area of Kogi State, recovering two AK-47 rifles and thousands of rounds of ammunition.
The operation, conducted by troops of 12 Composite Brigade, 5 Division, on November 3, followed an earlier raid on a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in the same forest.

In a statement, the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 12 Composite Brigade, Lieutenant Hassan Abdullahi, says troops encountered the fleeing criminals during the follow-up operation, neutralising two while others escaped into the surrounding forest.
Items recovered during the operation include two AK-47 rifles, seven magazines, 438 rounds of 7.62 millimetre by 54 ammunition, 4,725 rounds of 7.62 millimetre special ammunition, two bandoliers, two mobile phones and a power bank.
Lieutenant Abdullahi says the operation consolidates the gains of the previous day’s raid, as troops continue to dominate the area to prevent criminal elements from regrouping.

He reassures residents of the Army’s commitment to protecting lives and property and restoring lasting peace and security across Kogi State.
