Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 27 kidnapped victims and recovered an abandoned motorcycle during separate security operations in Katsina State.
The rescued victims, comprising 15 males and 12 females, were abducted by terrorists in the Gamji community, Sabuwa Local Government Area, before troops responded to a distress call and pursued the assailants.

In a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, the operation took place on October 16, 2026.
According to the statement, troops of Sector One received a distress call reporting terrorist activities in the Gamji community, where 27 residents had been abducted.

The troops swiftly mobilised and pursued the terrorists along the Gangare–Kamba axis, engaging them with superior firepower and forcing them to abandon their captives before fleeing.
All 27 victims were subsequently rescued unharmed. They were profiled by the troops and handed over to community leaders for reunification with their families.
In a separate operation on the same day, troops conducting a fighting patrol around Kurba village in Kankara Local Government Area encountered terrorists travelling on three motorcycles.

The terrorists reportedly fled upon sighting the advancing troops, abandoning one motorcycle, which was recovered during the operation.
The Theatre Commander of Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, commended the troops for their bravery and swift response to the security threats.
He also reassured residents of Katsina, Zamfara, and neighbouring states of the Task Force’s commitment to sustaining offensive operations aimed at restoring lasting peace and security across the region.
