Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force Northwest, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued seven kidnapped victims during a security operation along the Daye–Malumfashi road in Danmusa Local Government Area of Katsina State.
In a statement, the Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force Northwest, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, said the troops responded to a distress call on the evening of September 21, 2026, reporting an attack on a commercial vehicle travelling from Kaduna to Katsina.
According to the statement, the troops swiftly arrived at the scene and intervened, forcing the attackers to abandon their captives and flee.

The rescued victims comprise six female students of the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma, and a male commercial driver. All seven victims were rescued unhurt.
The victims subsequently underwent security profiling and medical evaluation before being handed over to the relevant authorities for reunification with their families.
