It was bad for the Nigeria Police on Wednesday evening in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, when a heavy-duty haulage truck crushed to death, a Woman Police Sergeant, in an accident that occurred along the WAPI Junction area of the city.
The accident which resulted in heavy traffic along the major entrance of the city, particularly, around the Mobil Junction of Murtala Muhammed Highway, left another Police Traffic Officer seriously injured.

The injured officer has, however, been evacuated to the hospital, where she is undergoing medication.
Cross River State Police Public Relations Officer, Irene Ugbo, has described the development as unfortunate, saying the deceased police officer was hardworking personnel who until her death was committed to her dedicated duties.
Ugbo who said the cause of the accident was still sketchy as at the time of filing this report, however, promised to give details to journalists.
Eyewitness accounts that the truck, with Registration Number CR 576 FTZ, tried to dodge an oncoming vehicle at a T-Junction when it ran over the Police officer, who was controlling the traffic on the Highway.
