President Donald Trump says the best is yet to come for the American people, as he seeks a second term.
On the final day of the Republican National Convention, President Trump touted to delegates, some of whom were physically at the South Lawn of the White House, of his success at negotiating favourable trade deals, Middle East peace plans and reform of the criminal justice system.
He insisted that upholding law and order must be paramount, a reference to violent protests in numerous American cities in recent months over the police shooting of unarmed black men. The latest being the incident in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
President Trump added that in his first term, he has done more for African Americans than any other president since Abraham Lincoln, the president during the American Civil War- fought principally over slavery.
He described his main opponent in November’s election, Joe Biden as “a left-leaning dangerous socialist” who should not be allowed to get into the White House.
The American leader also said, “if the Democrat Party wants to stay with anarchists, …and those who would kneel to the American anthem, that is up to them”.
