Two Catholic Priests abducted in Ondo

The Ondo Catholic Diocese has confirmed the abduction of two Catholic Priests along Owo-Benin Highway by unknown gunmen.

The priests were said to be heading for a wedding in Akure, Ondo state capital.

The clergymen were kidnapped on Friday night at Elegbeka axis of the highway on their way from Awka, Anambra State to Akure.

Confirming the incident, the Director of Media and Communications of the Ondo Catholic Diocese, Rev Father Leo Aregbesola, said the church has been searching for the victims while the kidnappers are yet to contact the church.

Rev. Father Aregbesola said effort were ongoing to get the abducted priests freed.

However, when contacted on telephone, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Ondo State Command, Femi Joseph, said the state command has not been briefed by Ose/Ifon Divisional Police station about the incident as at Sunday morning.
