Less than 24 hours after he was redeployed from his position as Rivers State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice to the Ministry of Special Duties (Governor’s Office), Professor Zaccheus Adango has resigned his appointment.
Professor Adango, in his resignation letter obtained by AIT.live, rejected his redeployment to the Ministry of Special Duties under the Office of the Governor and stated that he was no longer willing to work under the administration of Governor Sim Fubara.
He also alleged interference with the performance of his duties as the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, claiming that he was directed not to defend the Rivers State Government, oppose or appear in suits instituted against his office and the Rivers State Government by persons admittedly hired and sponsored by the Rivers State Government.
Governor Sim Fubara had in a minor cabinet shake up on Tuesday night, announced the redployment Professor Adango.
Also redeployed was the Commissioner for Finance Isaac Kamalu, who was asked to take over as Commissioner of Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment. He has also rejected his redeployment and subsequently resigned as member of the State Executive Council.

In his letter addressed to Governor Fubara, Isaac Kamalu said he was also resigning because of the unhealthy political atmosphere that has increasingly made governance difficult in the state.
While thanking the Governor for the opportunity given him to serve the state, Kamalu says he holds strongly the belief that it is never too late for peace to prevail in Rivers State.
Both Adango and Kamalu are said to be loyalists of the immediate past Governor of the state and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike
The two were among the commissioners who had resigned from the cabinet at the height of the political crisis that had rocked the state.
They were all recalled and reappointed by Governor Sim Fubara to their previous offices as part of the terms of the peace agreement brokered by President Bola Tinubu.
