Two security operatives, attached to the Bayelsa State Government coordinated security outfit codenamed ‘ Operations Doo Akpor’, have been killed in a shootout against unknown gunmen at Okarki Community, in Yenagoa Local Government Area of the State.
The Bayelsa Police Public Relations Officer, Asinim Buswat, said the men who were part of the security team stationed on a road used by Bunkerers, came under heavy fire from the assailants who caught them off guard.
Buswat said although the operatives were able to repel the attack, two officers, a Police Sargent and a Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, officer, died from fatal injuries sustained in the firefight, while some of the unknown gunmen also suffered various degrees of gunshot wounds.

While calling for useful information to help the command in it’s investigations, the Police image maker debunked reports that four assault rifles, were taken away by the hoodlums during the attack.
