Several terrorists have been killed in an attempt to breach a military facility in Zamfara state.
An Army officer and a Police officer however paid the supreme price, while several others sustained gunshot wounds as troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA repelled the infiltration attempt at Kasuwan Daji in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The incident, which inflicted heavy casualties on the terrorists, occurred on August 2, 2026.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 8 Division, Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba.
According to the statement, the terrorists attempted to exploit the cover of darkness to breach military facilities in the area.

However, alerted troops swiftly detected the hostile movement and responded with overwhelming firepower, forcing the terrorists to abandon their mission and retreat in confusion.
Following the initial engagement, reinforcements arrived, prompting troops to launch a hot pursuit of the fleeing terrorists, who had reportedly abducted an unspecified number of residents from nearby communities.
The statement said the sustained military operation resulted in the rescue of nine abducted locals.
The statement confirmed that one Army officer and one Police officer paid the supreme price, while other personnel sustained gunshot injuries.
The Army also dismissed reports circulating online that six security personnel were killed, describing the claim as false.
The statement further said the foiled infiltration attempt represents another significant setback for the terrorists, coming amid intensified military operations and pressure across the North-West theatre.
