The British High Commission in Nigeria has condemned acts of violence, thuggery, and intimidation witnessed by its observer teams deployed in six states for last Saturday’s governorship and State Assembly elections,
In a nine-paragraph statement, the High Commission said even as the BVAS functionality was better compared to the presidential and national assembly elections, issues of voter buying and ballot box snatching witnessed particularly in Enugu, Lagos, and Rivers states, and inflammatory ethno-religious rhetoric by public officials, calls for concern.

UK authorities, the statement adds will press on with visa ban for any individuals found to be involved in unwholesome conduct regarding the general elections.
The statement ends with a commitment that the United Kingdom will continue to support Nigeria in all its endeavours towards democratic development.
