The University of Calabar in Nigeria’s South-South, has expressed shock after it discovered that there are over 42,000 unclaimed certificates of the University in Faculties and Institutes.
A notice, dated June 25 2021, by the university’s Registrar, Gabriel Egbe and obtained by AIT said Some of the Certificates date back to the 1980.

The University Management said it is worried by this abnormality, and therefore, directs that all those who have not collected their Certificates after several years of graduation should do so immediately.
The University of calabar is asking Persons who are acquainted with these group of graduands, to inform them to immediately come for collection, While threatening to publish names and subsequently surcharge those who do not come forward for collection before the end of three months from the date of the notice.
The University of Calabar (which evolved from the University of Nigeria, Calabar Campus) was established on October one, 1975.
Teaching first took place in 1973 when the University of Nigeria, Nsukka opened a campus in Calabar and admitted the first batch of 154 students.
