The United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, has pledged to continue supporting the Katsina Government by ensuring all hard-to-reach areas are covered during routine immunisation and other vaccinations against child killer diseases.
The Chief UNICEF Field Officer, Kano, Rahama Farah said this at the unveiling of 198 motorcycles and a Hilux van, under the GAVI Primary Health Care-Memorandum of Understanding in Katsina State.

A statement by the Kano Field Office Communication Specialist, Samuel Kaalu, said Nigeria has 100 Local Government Areas that have been categorised as “Zero Dose LGAs,” given the number of children who have never received vaccinations in those council areas.
Farah said out of these, Katsina has 8 LGAs, namely, Batagarawa, Baure, Funtua, Kankara, Katsina, Mani, Rimi, and Safana, in which the motorcycles and vehicles launched will assist the vaccinations in getting to hard-to-reach areas.
He urged the state government to implement the Nigeria Primary Health Care Under One Roof Policy, to ensure a one-stop functional primary health care centre in each of the state
