The Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (Harmony FM) in Idofian, Ifelodun local government area of Kwara State has been vandalized by yet-to-be-identified hoodlums.
A visit to the isolated federal government radio station by ait.live reveals that armored cables worth millions of naira and other electrical items were also carted away by the hoodlums.
The Acting General Manager of the Station who is also the State Vice Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kwara State Council, Binta Abubakar-Mora and others described the attack as a threat to broadcasters and the broadcasting industry as a whole as similar attacks are becoming rampant even in other states, calling on government to provide adequate security for both workers and the broadcast facilities.
No life was however lost in the attack but staff and security men had their hands and legs tied together for several hours before the hoodlums later escaped having noticed the presence of oncoming vehicles around 5am.
