United Nigeria Airlines has become the headline sponsor of the 2026 Ndigboamaka Traders Cup, a football tournament bringing together traders from 58 major markets across Lagos State.
The announcement was made in Lagos during a press conference to unveil the third edition of the tournament, scheduled to commence on October 8.
President of the Ndigboamaka Progressive Markets Association, Hon. Chinedu Ukatu said the initiative is aimed at promoting unity, healthy living, and positive youth engagement among traders.
The tournament, themed “Unity, Enterprise and Healthy Living,” will feature 12 teams drawn from the 58 affiliate markets and run for six weeks.
The grand finale is scheduled to take place at the National Stadium, Lagos, with various prizes to be won.
The organisers also project more than 500,000 direct spectators, and over five million people reached through radio and social media.
They say the tournament will also provide an opportunity to discover football talents among traders and empower young people.
Speaking on the sponsorship, Sales Manager of United Nigeria Airlines, Nnonyelum Ibemere, said the partnership reflects the airline’s commitment to community development.
She said the tournament aligns with the airline’s values of unity, enterprise, and progress, particularly through its focus on youth engagement, talent discovery, and healthy living.
The Ndigboamaka Progressive Markets Association has called on market leaders, corporate organisations, and well-meaning Nigerians to support the tournament, which is expected to strengthen relationships among traders across Lagos and promote greater unity within the trading community.
