Students of state-owned universities in Ondo State have given Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa a 14-day ultimatum to resolve the demands of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, and other workers’ unions that have kept the institutions under strike for about two months.
The students, led by the NANS JCC Chairman, Ondo State, Mayomi Adeboye, made their position known on Monday in Akure, the state capital, after meeting with representatives of the state government.
Students from the various state-owned universities had earlier converged on Akure to protest the prolonged industrial action, which they say has disrupted their academic activities.
The protest was, however, suspended following an appeal from the National President of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Babatunde Akinteye for a two weeks grace.

The students appealed to Governor Aiyedatiwa to intervene in the dispute, saying they have been the major victims of the prolonged industrial action.
They urged the governor to prioritise the interest and welfare of students by ensuring that the issues between the government and the unions are resolved without further delay.
